This morning Ambassador Derek Hannon presented his credentials to Pope Francis as Ireland’s new Ambassador to the Holy See.
The Ambassador said he was “delighted” to present Pope Francis with copies of ‘Fáilte Pope Francis’ and ‘Pope Francis in Ireland’, as souvenirs of his visit to Ireland this year. Both books are beautiful coffee tables books published by Columba Books.
‘Fáilte Pope Francis’ is a collection of letters and drawings by Irish children aged 6-9 years welcoming the Pope to Ireland for the World Meeting of Families event in August. It is an eclectic mix of images expressing the children’s large imaginations and their robust curiosity, and all royalties go to The Children’s Medical and Research Foundation (CMRF).
‘Pope Francis in Ireland’ is a special commemorative book that follows Pope Francis’ 2018 visit to Ireland, leaving pilgrims with a lasting souvenir of this historic papal visit to Dublin and Knock, as well as the World Meeting of Families (WMOF) events and the preparations which took place across the 26 dioceses on the island. Written in partnership with The Irish Catholic, Ireland’s best-selling religious newspaper, this beautiful book covers the day-to-day events of the WMOF from August 21-26, offering in-depth reporting and a photographic diary of the Pope’s two-day intensive pilgrimage.
